THANK YOU MET SORRY

During the day, most of the time, either we end up saying ‘Sorry’ or ‘Thankyou’ to a number of known and unknown people.

While crossing a busy corridor, if someone even gives you a little space to cross, you would end up saying – ‘Thank You’. And at the same time, even if you need to cross in-between two people – who might be talking to each other, you would generally end up saying – ‘Sorry’.

‘Thank You’ and ‘Sorry’ are used also a satire.

This story is about what “Thank You’ and ‘Sorry’ think about each other.

One day, like re-united brothers, ‘Sorry’ and ‘Thank You’ were walking holding hands. Both were silent and suddenly ‘Thank You’ started a conversation.

Thank You: Sorry, no one calls me nowadays. It seems people have lost my existence. Hardly anyone remembers me. I really feel very sad.

Sorr: True. But I am very proud. Every second, millions of people in the world remember me, and call my name – almost 50 times in a day. I am more popular than you. I have a more recall value than any other global brand.

Thank You: Yes, I can see that. People say ‘Sorry’ for some reason or the other. Your popularity amazes me.

Sorry: (laughs) Yes. Actually, ‘Thank You’, you are assessed a lot by intellectuals and they don’t like your name. Ironically, ‘Ego’ met me last night and she too refuses to call you. But ‘Ego’ doesn’t like me either. But still, I have a good fan following and that makes me popular. By just calling my name – ‘Sorry’ – people feel relaxed and stress-free. Rather, when they call your name – Thank You – it takes a lot of efforts. It’s difficult. Then, these are two words – ‘Thank You’.

Thank You: Ya I can see this. It seems times have changed.

Sorry: No, people have changed.

Thank You: Maybe.

Sorry: Why don’t you change your name from ‘Thank You’ to ‘Thank Me’. Your brand value would increase. People generally would want to say – ‘Thank Me’.

Thank You: I understand what you saying. Sorry to have bothered you, and Thank You for hearing me out.

Time passed and ‘Thank You’ and ‘Sorry’ did not meet for years.

‘Thank You’ died because no one said ‘Sorry’. ‘Sorry’ died because no one said ‘Thank You’.

What still remained alive was the – ‘Ego’.

Is it not true that, many a times, we have said ‘Sorry’ without our mistake – just to satisfy an ego, that was expanding and crossing lines.

Though it is always nice to year – ‘Thank You’ from anyone, it is equally difficult to say ‘Sorry’, without a reason. It is also true that most of these problems have been created by ‘Ego’, who appears from nowhere and vanishes as the purpose is fulfilled.

I always say – “You touch my self-respect and my ego wakes up.”
