In this world of existence, survival, and insecurity, how would the power to ignore work – is a valid question.
In all these struggles and firefighting, the best advice given by people world-wide is to learn the “Power to Ignore”. Ignore people and ignore circumstances that defy you. When the feeling is of helplessness, and when you very well understand that things are beyond your control, the only way to bring peace in mind is to say – “let me ignore this and move forward”.
True, since there is no other way out too.
Ironically, the unbearable pain of not able to adjust and compromise to the people and situations does not allow you to sleep – resulting in palpitation and breathlessness. Your inability takes heavy toll on your mental health. This time, it is not a matter of ego, rather it is a matter of self-respect. Convincing mind and heart to surrender for something that both refuse to accept, is not only difficult but most of the time, just impossible.
How can you ignore people who keep eyeing for you all the time? Even if this behaviour does not harm you physically, it does hurt you mentally and emotionally.
To demons, it is their diet. They gain strength and self-satisfaction by doing so, and that adds to their confidence, and they defame people further.
Sometimes, it is better to give back and not to surrender further. It is better to retaliate to gain self-respect and bring back that feeling of guts. Your refusal to adjust further gives you that inner confidence & strength and coveys clearly that you are not available for any further adjustments and compromise now.
If you believe in destiny, believe in Karma also. If Karma of others have value, your Karma also has tremendous value. The Karma for regaining self-esteem. Why should anyone question your Karma?
If you can ignore everything that is surrounding you, then be prepared to be ignored someday for your existence as well. No harm?
Many would say – “You can’t fight everyone in this world”. But it is also true that everyone in this world is not waiting to fight with you.
Some would even argue that -“I ignored incidents around me. and I was isolated.”
All said and done, the “Power to Ignore” is not easy to practice. Unless you are in a position where nothing bothers you, it can back-fire as on you well. Of course, there are activities that do not demand your attention and can be ignored. And then there are retaliations – and such retaliations need be answered.
Well, it depends on you, if you want to be a goat or you want to protect your self-respect. I would rather retain my self-respect, than be a goat.
As Bholenath also said – “In Dharma-Yuddh, when your Karma says you have to fight, do not fear anyone, and do not think who is there as opponent – Just destroy them.”
